Sri Ambe Jewellers

Sri Ambe jewelers is S&O's mecca for silver jewelry. A super simple store with quality and unbeatable  authentic designs.

Pot market, near  Mahankali police station in Secunderabad is a spot for speed merchants as shops sprout up every day. Where as Sri Ambe jewelers have been on that very spot since the beginning of 19th century. S&O is proud to be the 3rd generation bargaining with men in that store.

A shop set up by marwaris known to be cut throat in matters of business, and tough to bargain with. A challenge lady of leisure can't resist we reckon. Every time we visit the store, the ever occupied man across the counter says "Let me show the latest designs in payal". The latest designs are always promising... ranging from the antique Nizamian style to the latest string anklets, for every occasion the store has something to offer. Silver cutlery, dinner sets and small gift items.

S&O recommend you to check out the small car, gun, rose, knife scissor key chains from here...

XOXO S&O
Until we shop again.

Sweet Magic...

Sweet Shop + Restaurant = Sweet Magic .

The food place opposite D V Manor (where we stayed the Last 3 days) on MG Road Vijayawada Just is an awesome most place to enjoy the Andhra meals. Veggies will love the platter, and for the Non-veggies Oh man, Watch out for your stomach might just explode.

For 150/- You get Non veg Thali with Fish Chicken and Mutton dishes along with a whole array of vegetarian dishes, unlimited supply of rice, delicious curd and Mind blowing Sweets that come from the ground floor where there is a sweet shop that can make one drool deliriously all over the place. I was told that the sweet shop was so popular, and even though they expanded the small sweet shop to a bigger place with a restaurant adjacent to the sweet shop and an other one on the first floor; they retained the name SWEET MAGIC; once you eat there you'll agree that the name is apt.

Chef Chinna Rao's cooking skills are commendable I must say.

Hyderabadi biryani on the menu doesn't taste anything like the Biryani in Hyderabad but I assure you it is delicious, and I personally suggest you try Biryani with Ulava Charu but ask them to bring it separately.

I regret not carrying my camera in to take the pics of the place or the food. But I'll be there soon so I'll keep that in my priority list.

Mangal giri

Mangalgiri cotton as you all know is one of the best cotton cloth, I always tell my friends that cotton clothes will last you for ever and only you have to chuck it or give it away but they almost never tear on you. I saw WHY .

I saw also HOW these beauties are made and how they are coloured. I am so proud to hail from a country where handicraft is not a story from yesterday. Looms that I visited were most basic but the cloth or sari's that are fabricated on them were nothing close to basic. The intricate designs of the borders and the choice of colours so well chosen. Each person weaves at least 2 sari's on the loom on a bad day and can weave up to 8 sari's when required.

My favorite Beauty Spot

A small place run by a 36 year old tomboy who plays cricket. An awesome place where none of the beauty assistants will exclaim saying "Oh my but you have soo much tan" or "why is your hair so dry You need a hair treatment" No none of those you'll hear here...

These beauties who work there receive you with a smile and are patient with how they treat you and have an incredible ability to make you feel so special. If you are a regular they even narrate their cute lives in Darjeeling... with few snippets that will make you laugh like mad overall you will leave the place rested like you would after a week long vacation in a hill station.

My Favorites are Kritika a very young girl (The one in the picture doing Joanne's eye brows) who I take a oil massage from and Shanu didi who does my eye brows, I know shanu didi from 12 years, a elderly lady who always makes errors in calculating, But only more endearing.

Waxing Hands and legs
Manicure Pedicure
Oil massage
Eye brows and
Face cleaning (it is a quick facial for when you are in a Hurry)

Is what I got done the last time I went there and paid 845/- So you can decide for your-self if it is cheap or expensive.

Senti-Dental

Dental health is essential to everyone, who has teeth, NOW that piece of Gnaan passed on, Here is an awesome Dental-clinic that I go to in East marredpally. The very first time I visited him I asked why DENTISTRY and he said "I would like to improve smiles" and Boom he made a me his regular patient (client... well whoever you are called when you visit a Dentist)

Pavan Mahatma, whom I nick named as Dr.Gandhi doesn't look anything like a Dentist (well I don't really know if there are any stereo typicalities of a Dentist...). He is a Super patient doctor Which I feel is pretty uncommon after I visited a few.

The clinic is clean, tidy and very plush tucked away on the first floor in a building Right beside Shenoy nursing hospital.

I have been visiting him from the last 4 years and I feel that he does a really good job and doesn't over charge. I am sure my friends Joshua and Anirudh can vouch for that too...

Shyaam Nivas

I think: This restaurant is an awesome place for those who like super desi Gujarathi food, a Thali with no hassle of spending time on the menu to decide on what to eat and all that blah... as said by my friend Joanne Lee

Super inexpensive place... and is situated on SD Road, If you walk on the same road as Paradise restaurant (that is very famous for biryani in Hyderabad) towards Ramgopalpet police station past general bazar you pass by KFC and adjacently opposite to that is a lane leading to Jain mandir beside Jain bhavan (a huge Hall for wedding and other big celebrations) and you take a few more steps and you will see Shyaam nivas (It means Krishna's residence a very poetic name for a small restaurant.) on the left, tucked away in the back, yet always packed with regulars who know the taste and relish it. Very non commercial and great service... with waiters working there from 1981... giving us a feel of Hyderabad back then,

Try it out :)

Sanskrit Language

It is a language that is unfortunately considered dead, tho' there exist 2 beautiful villages Mattur and Hosahalli in Karnataka where it is still spoken fluently by everyone living there...

I was awestruck when I visited Mattur, I felt like I was walking on the heaven's roads while walking these narrow streets, with heaps of grass everywhere, decorated cows looking happy and languorous and kids in dhothi and their Mundan pilaka bobbing up and down while they were scoring runs in cricket...
